East Hills Ice Cream Social 2022

After what seemed like an eternity through the Covid pandemic, the Biff staff returned to the campus of East Hills Middle School at the invitation of the EHMS PTO. The annual ice cream social is one of the great, fun events of the spring season.

The day was not without some frustration, as Station Manager Ron Wittebols showed up early to set out the equipment and plan the live remote. Everything fell into place, except the notorious wifi service in the East Hills Middle School building. Luckily, after some tense moments of trying to log in, the pesky wifi signal was stable throughout the evening.

Remotes like these allow Biff staffers to meet their listeners in person, and perhaps persuade the 8th graders who will be leaving EHMS to sign up for Intro to Broadcasting at Bloomfield Hills High School in the fall.

This year’s crew included outgoing Senior Elli Bolster and returning staffers, Freshman Eugene Belski and Sophomore Anthony Doria.

The crowd is lining up to enter East Hills Middle School. It’s just before 6:00 p.m., when the event is scheduled to start.
A corner location offers the best venue from which to broadcast; close to electrical and ethernet outlets.

The internet was giving the crew trouble; however, luck was on their side as. Here, the gang is all smiles after successfully connecting back to the station with the remote system.
